Oldtimers and Alzheimer’s: The Descriptive Organization of Senility, Jaber F. Gubrium
The book’s leading question is how do both experts and layperson describe, from symptoms to diagnoses, what “oldtimers” disease is on the one hand, and how does that differ from what experts describe as Alzheimer’s? Perhaps surprisingly, there’s little or no essential difference. So the question then is: has a disease been foisted upon a normal condition of later life? This book is more generally about the medicalization of experience.
The webinar will be 60 minutes. If you’d like to attend but can’t make it on the 12th, register and we'll send you a link to the recorded webinar. It will be available for 7 days following the live webinar, and will be accessible to everyone who registers in advance.
