Reading Movies: Myth and Symbols in Pulp Fiction

October 14, 2020 - 9:00 p.m. EDT

Our earliest expressions of art, the prehistoric cave paintings at Altamira and Lascaux, were illuminated by torch. A shaman guided members of the clan through a moving succession of images. The descent to see the figures on the wall ritualized a second birth. We awakened into our humanity in the deep dark of directed dreams, watching films.

Join Michael Verde as he explores the archetypal language in which great films speak. His insights into the myth and symbols informing cinematic classics will inspire both film buffs and those who just know what they like when they see it.

The webinar will consist of a 75-minute presentation by Michael Verde, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. If you’d like to attend but can’t make it on the 14th, register and we’ll send you a link to the recorded webinar. It will be available for 3 days following the live webinar, and will be accessible to everyone who registers in advance.

We are suggesting a donation of $5 for the webinar, but please feel free to adjust the amount to whatever you like. The donation is entirely optional, so if you don’t wish to donate at this time, just enter 0 in the space below and come enjoy the webinar! All are welcome.
