Memory Bridge Initiative in South Africa

Memory Bridge is going to South Africa in May 2013 to build bridges of peace in racially divided high schools. The Creative Paths to Peace grant was awarded by the The Research and Developmental Committee at Indiana University to bring the Memory Bridge Initiative to South Africa for the advancement of peace and education.Memory Bridge will train 6 teachers in South Africa how to facilitate the Memory Bridge Initiative. The 5 1/2-day intensive training will follow the Memory Bridge Dementia Immersion Training format. The experiential learning journey will teach teachers how to implement and introduce students to the Memory Bridge Initiative. Our long-range goal is to establish secondary schools sites in South Africa for the ongoing expression of the Memory Bridge Initiative in select secondary schools across the country, and to begin training teachers within those site schools how to facilitate the program. This project will be conducted in Pretoria, South Africa.
