13 Jul “I am a Bridge” Training at Sandhill Cove

Memory Bridge’s 3 1/2-day experiential learning journey, “I am a Bridge,” was held July 9,2015- July 12, 2015, at Sandhill Cove’s Water’s Edge Extended Care in Palm City, Florida. This is Michael Verde’s fourth training at Sandhill Cove in two years. To date, 60 “I Am a Bridge” graduates have learned from people with dementia what if feels like to “be with” a person with dementia, and how vital being together is to all our lives, regardless of our cognitive capacities. A community of Bridge Builders visit their Buddies at Water’s Edge on a regular basis, ending by their gift and reception of love and joy the loneliness that constitutes the unnecessary suffering of dementia.
