Lisa Genova Joining the Bridge in Bloomington

12.06.13

We are delighted to announce that the New York Times best-selling author Lisa Genova will be joining Memory Bridge for our 2014 Training Retreat.

Genova's novel Still Alice has been adapted as a major motion picture starring Julianne Moore, to be released in June, 2014. Still Alice describes the sudden descent of a 50-year-old professor into early onset Alzheimer's disease. The Boston Globe says Genova's novel is "written not from the outside looking in, not from the point of view of a caretaker or a husband or a friend, but from the inside looking out." "Still Alice isn't only about dementia. It's about Alice, a woman beloved by her family and respected by her colleagues, who in the end, is still Alice, not just her disease." The book has been translated into more than 25 languages and spent over 40 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list. Genova is the author of two other bestsellers, Love Anthony and Left Neglected. She holds a Ph.D. in neuroscience from Harvard University.

The Training Retreat will be held June 13 - 18 at the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center in Bloomington, Indiana. For more information, please visit the Memory Bridge website at www.memorybridge.org. Individuals who wish to be considered for participation in the Retreat should submit an application no later than January 29, 2014.

The training is co-sponsored by Indiana University’s Center on Aging and Community at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community.
